As we continue looking back at some of the “firsts” that have shaped our 10 years of ministry, this week we’re remembering one that started on a rainy afternoon in October 2018.

It was our very first Vacation Bible School on the GVFH campus.

A team from LifePoint Church in Maryland joined dedicated volunteers from our community to help us launch what would become the beginning of our Spiritual Formation ministry.

We had no idea what to expect.

And then the children started coming.

Despite the rain, nearly 200 children showed up each afternoon, filling our campus with energy and excitement.

That week, they learned one simple truth:

“God is with me wherever I go.”

Throughout the week, that truth came to life as the children learned:

God knows me.
God hears me.
God sends me.
God loves me.

What began during that rainy week became an annual tradition – and eventually a ministry of GVFH LifePoint Church.

One of our greatest joys has been watching children from those early years return again and again, while welcoming new faces each summer.

And next week, it happens all over again. Children will once again fill our campus for VBS, and this year’s theme is prayer.

As we remember where this ministry began, would you pray with us for what God will do next week?

Pray that children will discover what it means to talk with God and trust Him. Pray for our volunteers and leaders as they serve. Most of all, pray that young lives will be touched and transformed for His glory.

Eight years ago, we couldn’t have imagined what that first VBS would become.

We can’t wait to see what God does next.
