As we continue celebrating some of the “firsts” that have shaped God’s Vision for Haiti over the past 10 years, this week’s story comes at the perfect time.

Two years ago, on September 2, 2024, another dream became reality on the GVFH campus.

GVFH LifePoint Church held its very first official Sunday morning worship service.

Spiritual Formation has always been at the heart of God’s Vision for Haiti. We want to meet practical needs, educate children, strengthen families, and provide healthcare – but at the center of everything we do is our desire for people to know Jesus and experience the transforming power of the Gospel.

That’s why the beginning of GVFH LifePoint Church was such an important milestone for us.

Our prayer was to create a Christ-centered, God-led, Spirit-empowered church where everyone would be welcome. A place where people could come as they are, encounter Jesus, grow in their faith, and discover God’s purpose for their lives.

And over the past two years, we’ve watched God grow that first Sunday into something much bigger.

The church has developed ministries for women, youth, and children, along with Bible studies and prayer gatherings. Kids’ Good News Club, which has been reaching children in our community for years, is now an official ministry of GVFH LifePoint Church.

And this past Sunday, our church family gathered again! This time to celebrate two years of God’s faithfulness with a special service of thanksgiving and praise.

As we look back at that first Sunday morning and see what God has done since, we’re reminded of the words we shared at our first anniversary:

“The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” — Psalm 126:3

And we believe He’s only beginning.

As we celebrate the first 10 years of God’s Vision for Haiti, our prayer for the next 10 is not simply that our programs will grow or that more buildings will be built.

Our deepest prayer is that lives will be transformed by Jesus.
