Today we have a note from our Board –

With so much going on this year with God’s Vision for Haiti, we thought this would be a good time to have a family meeting. And yes, family meetings can be exciting! (This note is a bit long, but we want to be sure we are taking good care of Juska and Jona.)

First, as partners in this ministry, we know we’re all committed to what this ministry is built on:

Haiti – The desperate need is overwhelming. Beyond the vast physical needs and the political corruption, the spiritual needs are the heart of this country’s collapse and why Juska and Jona are here.

Juska and Jona – We all know what these two servants of God have given up and are doing 24/7 for God’s glory and His kingdom. We thank God for their hearts.

Family of Supporters – One of the best things of being founding members of a new organization is that we know that everything we do – prayers, words of encouragement and support – plays a critical role in this ministry, and that we get to hear the news from Haiti directly from Juska and Jona about all that God is doing.

God – Our God loves us beyond what we can imagine, and has the power to move mountains. We’ve seen Him at work and we will again!

Chores – Ok, this one may need a bit of explaining. We all have chores, and we’ve all been told that with the right attitude they can actually be fun. The right music turns the Swifter mop into a great dance partner, hot soapy water and warm towels coming out of the dryer feel really good on a cold winter day, and yes, bathrooms really can be sparkly clean and smell good.

At the end of day, thanking God for the privilege of caring for the things in our lives helps us to be the grateful and generous image bearers He created us to be. The same is true for a ministry’s “chores” that need to be done.

Fundraising is a chore that most of us run away from, but really, it’s a privilege to serve in this way. Juska and Jona cannot financially support this ministry. They truly need us. GVFH is not possible without partners.  (Before anyone stops reading – if we have enough partners giving $25 a month, we can continue to grow.)

The more we learn about Juska and Jona, the more we want to be sure that they and their children are taken care of.

The more we learn about the staff and the physical needs of the ministry, the more we want to be sure there is gas in the tank so they can go to rescue a baby, that they have cell phones to make sure the roads are safe to travel, internet and electricity, etc – the basic needs that we take for granted and pay for at home each month, but are so much more important to have in Haiti. Without these things the ministry cannot happen, or go forward.

Our Foster Care program has operating expenses too. The babies and kids need to see the doctor, go to school, and need basic supplies. This is a program that will surely grow, so we need to be sure it’s fully funded.

Juska and Jona spend a lot of time on fundraising, and we can free them up to do ministry.

Before we can grow our programs and projects beyond what we’ve done so far, we need to meet our ministry operating budget.

Growing our monthly support base frees us up from all of the above. Just as we understand how important and secure a monthly paycheck is each month, the same is true for ministries.

Growing our number of donors is also important. As the ministry grows, we’ll need to grow our partner base to allow us to move forward.

Year End is a wonderful time of the year. We have two opportunities to help us reach our goals

The most exciting thing about being part of this ministry is watching God work. He’s been so faithful in opening doors, and providing for and protecting GVFH. It’s exciting to see what God has in store for us next!

As a board, we want to join Juska and Jona in saying, THANK YOU for partnering with God’s Vision for Haiti. We all know fundraising isn’t on everyone’s fun list, but it truly is a blessing to honor God’s blessings in this way! Serving together, as God leads us, we are changing lives in Haiti!

For God’s Glory,

Deb
