Today, let’s celebrate what God did through our Foster Care Pillar last year. Advocating for these precious vulnerable children can be heartbreaking at times but witnessing the ongoing impact is priceless.
Here’s what we do:
Placing children in foster families is a critical alternative to orphanages. Our team works in collaboration with IBESR (our local social services) and the foster families, so that we are all working toward the wellbeing of the children. We embrace a holistic program that gives the children a sense of the security and belonging that comes with being part of a family and provides them with the very important and much needed physical, emotional, educational, spiritual, psychological, and social care that all children should have.
Here’s why we do it:
As meaningful as our programs are to the children, the results that we see firsthand in their lives are even greater. Seeing that an energetic toddler who is ready and excited for the first day of preschool – the same child who once was underweight, underdeveloped, malnourished, traumatized, and abandoned – is now loved and meeting developmental milestones is why we are here sharing God’s love for them! These precious living testimonies celebrate our ministry work and motivate us to do more every day.
Here are some details:
Since we can’t share the photos or specific details about the children in our Foster Care program, here are some of the broader details of what we accomplished together during 2023:
- We accompanied IBESR for the placements of 37 vulnerable children in loving foster families
- 447 Care Kits were given to the foster children and families (food, clothing, hygiene, toy and baby kits)
- 2 trainings/activities for the children who are placed in foster homes
- 2 trainings/activities for the foster parents
- 891 follow up visits and calls to check in our foster children. Currently we are working with 61 placed foster children
- 4 searches for biological relatives
- Took part in the 17 Reunifications of the foster children with biological relatives
- 11 family mediations
- 47 of the foster children received the gift of education through our Child Sponsorship program
We praise God for the privilege and opportunities we have to be His hands and feet in caring for these precious vulnerable children. He looks at each of them as His children – His son, His daughter – how it must break His heart to see them in such distress, and how we honor His love for them by bringing them “home” to loving families.
Thank you for partnering with us to help these precious sons and daughters!
