God’s Vision for Haiti’s Health and Wellness Pillar, by God’s grace, made some crucial steps forward in meeting the physical, emotional, and social needs of the foster children, their families, and our community this past year.
GVFH’s four pillars work beautifully to strengthen each other so the growth of one pillar blesses the others. In 2023, God allowed us to accomplish the following together:
- Wellness:
- We continue to serve our community with clean, safe water 3 times a week
- Countless community recreational games on campus to draw both the big and little kids to the campus to give them a safe, healthy environment to play
- 2 recreational activities for the foster children and foster parents (a beach day and end of year celebration)
- 100s of children received gift boxes thanks to LifePoint Church
- Medical & Therapeutic interventions:
- In June we were able to do a soft launch of the GVFH Community Clinic! It’s open twice a week to serve the foster children and some members of our community. Update: With the generosity of many, we are currently onboarding a nurse and gathering basic lab equipment and supplies for our small pharmacy onsite, so the clinic can be open to our entire community very soon!
- 193 Medical consultations for our foster children (included medical, surgical, orthopedic, ophthalmologic, psychiatric, physical therapy, and psychological care).
- 79 Psychological consultations, follow-ups, and support was given to foster children and foster families. (Just one of the many, many responsibilities Psychologist Rosemonde has on our team!)
The Health and Wellness Pillar has an exciting year ahead as it’s ready to launch into another year of great growth as the Clinic expands its help into our community to meet this critical need. THANK YOU for making it possible for us to serve in this way!
