As we continue celebrating 10 years of God’s Vision for Haiti, we’re looking back at some of the “firsts” that helped shape the ministry we see today.
This week, we’re remembering our very first patient at the GVFH Community Clinic.
And we didn’t have to look far to find her.
In June 2023, we had just set up our first consultation room with medical equipment that had largely been donated by generous friends of the ministry. Dr. Fredny Martine had joined our team, and we were finally ready to see our first patient.
That patient was our daughter, Nesiah.
She was proud to help us make a little GVFH history that day. And her brother Carter, of course, couldn’t wait for his turn!
It was a small beginning, but for us it represented a dream coming to life.
We envisioned a clinic where our foster children could receive care right on our campus and where families from the surrounding community could find quality, compassionate healthcare close to home.
Today, that vision continues to grow.
Since Nesiah sat down for that first appointment, more than 300 patients have received care through the GVFH Community Clinic. Today, our medical team includes our generalist, Dr. Richelton Aimable, pediatrician, Dr. Abner Pubien, and nurse Thamika Favard who continue caring for children and adults from our ministry and community.
It’s amazing to look back at a nearly empty consultation room and realize how much has happened since.
One patient became 300+.
One consultation room became a place where people can receive care, compassion, and experience the love of Christ in a practical way.
And we’re still growing.
As we celebrate the first 10 years of God’s Vision for Haiti, we’re grateful for every person who has prayed, given medical equipment, supported our Health & Wellness ministry, or helped make this dream possible.
