We all watch the news, hear the craziness going on in Haiti, and think what good could possibly come out of this country with all the negative press. I witnessed the good first hand! Spending over a week at our God’s Vision for Haiti compound in Les Cayes, was nothing short of excitement, tears of joy, and love for our brothers and sisters in Christ! From the very first day rounding the corner approaching the property, seeing the beautiful ministry center come into view, was breathtaking! I was finally able to step foot inside for my very first time knowing of all of the lives that had already been touched, and praying for new experiences for God to work in the hearts of neighboring Haitians. 

Because of unforeseen circumstances, we were unable to explore much outside of the compound the first couple days. This was not our plan. We wondered how we would fill our days productively. God knew exactly what was coming! We received a phone call from a generous donor who gave us the go ahead to move forward with the Christian school we had put in future plans for the property! Juska was able to get our engineer who did the ministry center to meet with us the very next day! We now were busy measuring and planning a new building placement to further God’s work in GVFH! 

By midweek we had also completed staff evaluations. I was amazed at what I heard from them. Most all expressed that this was not only a place to work but a loving, family atmosphere they would do anything for. I heard stories of miles walked in rain storms, hitching rides from friends, and paying their own taxi fares. What commitment! They love to share about the children placed, the children reunited, and really true fish stories from our co-op that now has 36 members! 

The news is correct. Haiti is in turmoil. However God has a specific plan for GVFH, our staff, Juska and Jona, myself, and you to be a part of showing the love of Jesus in Les Cayes, Haiti! It is evident that He is here and loves them! Pray someday that the news will show the true depth of how Jesus’ love is changing lives and the good that is happening there! Hopefully my return is near….
